Ronald H. Buratti joined SDi in 2021 as a consultant and subject matter expert to the Advanced Technologies and Innovation business unit. Ron’s responsibilities include serving as Technical SME where his extensive experience in anti-submarine warfare is leveraged to support system design/development, requirements definition, design of test events, and participation in customer meetings. Ron contributes to internal and customer discussions by providing novel approaches and concepts for improvements to new and existing products. Ron also assists with organizational development where he leads an engineering mentorship program for the development of the engineering staff. In addition, Ron provides direction and support to SBIR projects including project seeding, proposal writing and project execution.
Prior to joining SDi, Ron worked at RDA, Inc. for twenty-seven years, as a member of the technical staff and later as Vice President of Engineering. Ron provided RDA with on-site support as the primary customer interface to the Naval Air Warfare Center at Patuxent River, MD. Ron’s extensive technical experience includes sonar design and performance analysis, sonobuoy RF telemetry design and analysis, and magnetic anomaly detection. Ron has also served as Principal Investigator of many successful SBIR projects including Digital Vertical Line Array Sonobuoy, Data Fusion Display, and Mid-Frequency sonobuoy.
Ron graduated from University of Rhode Island in 1984, with a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech in 1987. Ron’s graduate work focused on Digital Signal Processing and Communications. He began his career at IBM Federal Systems in Manassas, Virginia where he worked on the AN/BQQ-5D submarine sonar and the AN/UYS-1 advanced signal processor.
Ron grew up in Johnston, Rhode Island just outside of Providence. He currently lives in Hilton Head Island, SC with his wife Joan and their two cats.
